Katel Delia: The Last Breath
About
An immersive photography, light and sound installation by Katel Delia exploring migration across the Mediterranean, shown at Ffotogallery's Project Space.
Katel Delia's The Last Breath is an immersive installation combining photography, light and sound to explore migration across the Mediterranean. Photographs made while diving capture bubbles released underwater, appearing and disappearing throughout the space, while migration statistics, mapping and sound situate the work in the wider realities and risks of sea crossings. Originally commissioned for il-Kamra ta' Fuq in Malta, the work forms part of Delia's wider practice tracing migration and displacement through her Maltese family's movements between Malta, Tunisia and Marseille.
