Kialy Tihngang: Opportunity Costs
About
An exhibition of Kialy Tihngang's work spanning moving-image, sculpture, performance, textile and photomontage, with a free public preview on 11 February 2027.
Ffotogallery presents 'Opportunity Costs' by Kialy Tihngang, a Cameroonian-British multidisciplinary artist and researcher based in Glasgow. Her practice incorporates moving-image, sculpture, performance, textile, photomontage and writing, examining the colonial European misrepresentation and demonisation of West African cultural practices alongside her own misremembering and romanticisation of them. Using elaborate handmade sets, costumes and props, the work merges Afropresentism, Nollywood's dark humour and Western mass-media visual language to explore Blackness, queerness and Britishness. A free public preview takes place on 11 February 2027, 6-8pm, with no need to book.
