Fundraising Workshop - 'Small Figures, Modern Lives' With Julia Ellen Lancaster
About
A hands-on porcelain workshop with Julia Ellen Lancaster reimagining the traditional figurine for contemporary life, raising funds for AGBI.
AGBI Steward Julia Ellen Lancaster leads a hands-on workshop exploring the history of porcelain figurines, from their Chinese origins to Victorian depictions of everyday life. Participants create their own small sculptural character inspired by contemporary people and identities, embracing abstraction and imperfection, and add detail with blue underglaze before pieces are fired off site with a transparent glaze. The session runs 2–4.30pm with a 15-minute break, is limited to 12 participants aged 18+, and all materials are provided.
