About

Dr. Rory MacLellan gives a lecture on the political and military role of the Knights Hospitaller in the English March.

The Knights Hospitaller, famous for their crusades, funded their wars through estates across Europe, including the March. Their strong presence in England made them significant political players, serving and fighting for some kings while plotting against others. Dr. MacLellan, author of ‘Warrior Monks: Politics and Power in Medieval Britain’, will discuss this history. The lecture lasts 120 minutes and includes a coffee break.
