Establishing a Small-Scale Market Garden (¼ Acre Model)
About
A four-day course at the Apricot Centre covering the practical, technical and commercial foundations of setting up a small-scale market garden.
This four-day course introduces the practical, technical and commercial foundations of establishing a small-scale market garden, aimed at new entrants, smallholders, hospitality growers and community growing projects. The programme moves from context to practice to planning: day one covers vision, enterprise and site reading; days two and three take place on local working farms, Lower Hewood Farm and Trill Farm Garden, covering soil health, fertility, growing systems and business; day four covers business planning and the concept plan. It is delivered by Claire Hannington-Williams with guest tutors Tim Williams (soil health) and Ashley Wheeler of Trill Farm Garden.
