Living Soil, Better Growing
About
A one-day soil and ecological growing course combining teaching, practical activities and a farm visit, run by The Agroecology Project.
This one-day course explores what soil is, how it develops and how roots, microorganisms, organic matter, air and water interact to support plant health. The day begins at Norton Village Hall with introductions, teaching, discussion and hands-on examination of soil samples, covering soil structure, the soil food web and plant nutrition, plus how to improve soil with compost, mulches, living roots and soil preparations. A field visit to Norton Community Farm puts the ideas into context, with opportunities to examine soil and roots and discuss management choices. Aimed at gardeners, allotment holders and growers, no previous knowledge is required; participants should bring a soil sample, notebook and outdoor clothing.
