Dr Geoffrey Mead traces the rise of seaside holidays and the travel, facilities and entertainments that shaped coastal resorts.

Dr Geoffrey Mead’s talk follows the shift from inland spas to coastal holiday resorts and considers how visitors reached them. It looks at the development of resort facilities and entertainments, including hotels, piers, charabanc trips and paddle steamers. Tickets are £8 for Uckfield Heritage members and £10 for non-members, plus booking fees; free Personal Assistant tickets are offered for disabled visitors.
