The Literal Translation (VOILA! Festival)

Performance poet Alice d’Lumiere turns the challenge of learning French into a bilingual autobiographical show of verse, comedy and song.

After taking an English-language show to a French festival and struggling to order a coffee, Alice d’Lumiere built a playful performance around language learning and identity. The solo work combines prose, verse, comedy, song and attempts at spoken French; the page credits d’Lumiere as writer and performer. The published bill names: Alice d’Lumiere.
