About

A Gothic library display explores the boundary between medicine, household remedies and poison.

The display brings together botanical works about plants that heal or harm and Gothic fiction in which poison becomes a tool of secrecy, revenge and murder. It considers how anxieties about medicine, chemistry and the natural world shaped darker writing.
