Inaugural Lecture - Professor James Cooper
About
Professor James Cooper's inaugural lecture reflects on self-interest, character and leadership in the Reagan-Thatcher era, followed by a drinks reception.
Professor James Cooper delivers his inaugural lecture, 'What's In It For Me? Reflections on self-interest, character, and leadership in the Reagan-Thatcher era'. Drawing on twenty years of research into Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and the Anglo-American relationship, he argues that leadership is more calculated and more genuine, more constrained and more consequential, than admirers or critics allow. The talk also reflects on his journey as a historian, and all are welcome with no prior knowledge required. A drinks reception follows the lecture.
