Ebor Lectures: Professor Janina Ramirez
About
Historian Professor Janina Ramirez gives a 20th Anniversary Ebor Lecture on how rediscovering women from the medieval past can shape a more equal future.
This 20th Anniversary Ebor Lecture, held both in person and online, features historian Professor Janina Ramirez examining how the misrepresentation and repackaging of female figures from the past has shaped today's gender divide. Drawing on figures such as Hildegard of Bingen, Hilda of Whitby and Lady Godiva, she explores how socio-political and ideological agendas created the two-sphere world experienced by modern women. The talk runs from 5pm to 7pm and is followed by a Q&A, with drinks and book sales for in-person attendees.
