Sarah Graham: BiopolarScapes
About
An exhibition of 72 sky-inspired paintings by Sarah Graham exploring bipolar disorder, alongside a new series of photographic works.
Sarah Graham's BiopolarScapes brings together 72 paintings inspired by photographs of the sky, some taken during a six-month hospital stay in 2025 with bipolar psychosis and mania. The number of paintings reflects the months in remission between her two hospital admissions, marking a new phase in her practice that aided her recovery through 2026. Alongside the paintings, the exhibition presents a new photographic body of work drawing on her familiar motifs of childhood toys and pop culture icons, using metaphorical imagery to explore the highs, lows, isolation and euphoria of shifting mental states. Further informative elements aim to educate visitors about bipolar disorder.
