Introduction to Wheel Throwing (Nov - Dec)

A six-week beginner evening pottery course at Arts University Plymouth teaching wheel throwing, from centring clay to glazing finished pots.

This hands-on evening course for absolute beginners runs over six Tuesday sessions, guiding participants through the full wheel-throwing process. Weeks one and two cover wedging, centring clay and pulling first cylinders and bowls; weeks three and four focus on trimming, foot rings and handles; week five introduces glazing, and week six ends with unloading the kiln and sharing finished pieces. Participants take home a collection of glazed, fired mugs or bowls. The class is for ages 18+ and no experience is needed.
