From Fairlie To The World: The Fife Design Story
About
An exhibition of watercolours by Alastair Houston and museum artefacts exploring three generations of the Fife yacht-building family of Fairlie.
This exhibition at the Scottish Maritime Museum's Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank explores the Fife family of Fairlie, whose Clyde boatyard became one of the world's most respected yacht-building businesses between 1803 and 1944. Watercolours by marine artist Alastair Houston are shown alongside artefacts from the museum's national maritime heritage collection, including original tools, models and plans. Historic photographs, launch-day postcards and business records offer further insight into the yard's success. The exhibition is open 10am–4pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
