Exhibition: Anthony Shapland – MURMUR
About
A solo exhibition by Cardiff-based artist and writer Anthony Shapland, featuring a new film and an integrated reading space at Tŷ Pawb.
MURMUR is a large-scale solo exhibition by Welsh artist, g39 founder and novelist Anthony Shapland, guest-curated by Marie-Anne McQuay with Tŷ Pawb Creative Director Jo Marsh. It includes a new film alongside recent moving image works such as Starling Seven (2025) and Between the Dog and the Wolf (2019), exploring illusion, mimicry and lives lived at the edges of rural landscapes, often filmed around Bargoed in the Rhymney Valley. The show blends documentary and fiction, drawing on Shapland's experience of rural queerness, and is accompanied by an integrated reading space and a public programme reflecting his interest in the intersection of art and writing.
