Historic Court Chamber Tours

A guided tour of the restored Historic Court Chamber at Rochdale Town Hall, exploring its courtroom past and the stories of those who appeared there.

This hour-long tour takes visitors into the lavishly decorated Court Chamber at Rochdale Town Hall, restored as part of the recent redevelopment. Originally a courtroom and now the Council Chamber, it was where wealthy magistrates judged petty criminals and habitual offenders. Guides share the stories of the accused and accusers, what drove ordinary Rochdalians into crime, and what awaited them beyond the courtroom. Suitable for adults and teenagers, with 30 places per tour.
