About

The People's Theatre stages James Goldman's darkly comic drama of the scheming Plantagenet royal family at Christmas 1183.

James Goldman's modern classic is set over Christmas 1183, when Eleanor of Aquitaine is released from imprisonment to join King Henry II and their sons, sparking a dangerous game of power, manipulation and deception. The amateur production promises sibling rivalry, adultery and dungeons in a wickedly comic and emotionally charged portrait of a royal family at war with itself. Performances run nightly at 7.30pm in the Studio Theatre, with unallocated seating; running time is yet to be confirmed.
