St Andrews Chorus

St Andrews Chorus with River Tay Sinfonia performs Cherubini's Requiem and Puccini's Messa di Gloria at Caird Hall.

St Andrews Chorus makes its fifth visit to Caird Hall, joined by the River Tay Sinfonia and tenor and bass soloists for a programme of choral works by composers better known for their operas. Cherubini's Requiem in C minor, written to commemorate Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette after Waterloo and performed at Beethoven's funeral, is paired with Puccini's exuberant Messa di Gloria, whose melodies he later reused in Edgar and Manon Lescaut.
