About
The RSNO performs Copland, Auerbach's UK-premiere violin concerto and Shostakovich's Leningrad Symphony at Caird Hall.
Bassem Akiki conducts the RSNO in a programme opening with Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, followed by the UK premiere of Lera Auerbach's Violin Concerto No 1 with soloist Philippe Quint. The concert climaxes with Shostakovich's Symphony No 7 'Leningrad', composed as Hitler's armies surrounded the city. A free pre-concert talk for ticket holders takes place at 1.45pm in the Marryat Hall.
