Adriano Adewale's 'Echoes of Naná - A Homage to Naná Vasconcelos'
About
Afro-Brazilian percussionist Adriano Adewale leads an improvised jazz homage to Naná Vasconcelos with guitar, cello, vocals and percussion.
Adriano Adewale's Echoes of Naná is an improvised performance paying homage to the influential Brazilian percussionist Naná Vasconcelos, exploring his philosophy of voice, body, rhythm and improvisation as one expressive instrument. Rather than recreating Vasconcelos' music, the ensemble draws on Afro-Brazilian traditions, improvisation and contemporary jazz, so each performance unfolds differently. The line-up features Luca Boscagin on guitar, Phoebe Harty on cello, Carolina Lelis on vocals, Andres Ticino and Adriano Adewale on percussion. The event is for ages 18 and over, with doors at 8pm.
