Pink Palace: In a Year of 13 Moons
About
Pink Palace's relaxed queer film club screens a restored Fassbinder drama about a transgender woman seeking acceptance, introduced by curator Andrew Woodyatt.
Pink Palace, a weekly queer film club held in the Rio's basement bar, presents a beautifully restored screening of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 1978 film In a Year of 13 Moons. Made in response to the suicide of Fassbinder's lover Armin Meier, the film follows the final days of Elvira, a transgender woman spurned by her former lover, as she searches for understanding and acceptance. The 118-minute film, in German with English subtitles and rated 18, is introduced by curator Andrew Woodyatt, with attendees welcome to stay and chat afterwards in the club's relaxed, safe-space setting.
