Andrew Phillips History Evenings 2027 – 1

Two history talks in one evening: the Middleton visions of Father Clive Luget and the story of Sudbury's silk weaving with Richard Humphries.

An evening of two history talks. Roger Green recounts the story of Father Clive Luget, rector of Middleton, whose reported visions in 1932–33 drew national press attention and pilgrims hoping for an 'English Lourdes'. Richard Humphries MBE FRSA then traces his 60 years involved with Sudbury Silk Mills and the weaving of highly specialised historic textiles for sumptuous interiors.
