About
An evening of two local history talks covering a 1766 feud between Long Melford's great houses and the haunting of Borley Rectory.
The next in Andrew Phillips' history evenings pairs two talks on local history. Dr Lyn Boothman examines the clashes on and around Melford Green in late November 1766, culminating in an attack on the gates and boundary fences of Melford Hall, led by the owner of Kentwell Hall. Bryan Thurlow then recounts the 'ghostly goings on' at Borley Rectory in Essex, famously declared 'the most haunted house in England' by national newspapers in 1929, covering the period from the 1840s to the 1940s.
