Walter Hoyle: A Restless Practice
About
A free exhibition of etchings, linocuts and screenprints by Cambridge printmaker Walter Hoyle, exploring travel and movement in his art.
This exhibition gathers etchings, aquatints, linocuts and screenprints by British painter, printmaker and illustrator Walter Hoyle (1922–2000), who taught at Cambridge School of Art from 1964 to 1984 and ran its printmaking studio. Part of David Parr House's 2026 theme of Maps, Travel and Journeys, it reflects on an artist whose life and practice were shaped by movement, shifting continually between places, techniques, styles and subjects. Work from across his career highlights his experimental approach to printmaking and his role in Cambridge's artistic life. The gallery is open Wednesdays to Saturdays, 10am–5pm.
