About

An immersive wartime installation in the Manor house evoking how it was transformed to house 100 evacuee children from Croydon in 1939.

This display explores how Waddesdon Manor changed during the Second World War, beginning with its transformation in September 1939 to accommodate 100 evacuee children from Croydon. Visitors move through the House's splendid rooms, which evoke the life of the children during the war years. A soundscape features Dorothy de Rothschild's first-hand account of how the House and family adapted to wartime. The experience is included with Standing with Giants Grounds Admission.
