Cornish Art from the David Tovey Collection
About
An exhibition of Cornish art from collector David Tovey's private collection, exploring the artists and communities of St Ives, Newlyn, Lamorna and Polperro.
This exhibition draws on the private collection of collector, author and art historian David Tovey, whose passion for Cornish art began with research into his great-grandfather, the artist William Titcomb. Works span the harbours of St Ives and Newlyn and the artistic communities of Lamorna and Polperro, tracing the people and places behind a celebrated chapter in British art. Rather than a chronological history, the paintings invite visitors to make unexpected connections through colour, composition, atmosphere and the collector's own eye. The exhibition runs alongside a series of November talks with David Tovey and a conversation with artist Sam Bassett.
