Nokshi Katha
About
A free 10-week Friday workshop series teaching Nokshi Katha, the traditional Bangladeshi embroidery craft, with sustainable textile artist Shama Kun.
This free 10-week workshop series teaches Nokshi Katha, one of the oldest forms of embroidery in the world, which originated in Bangladesh. Participants learn techniques from sustainable textile artist Shama Kun, upcycling old cloth into elaborate embroidered pieces for individual and collective projects. Each term the group works to a different theme, such as Women's Empowerment, and no prior embroidery experience is needed. The Autumn term runs on Fridays from 4 September to 6 November 2026; the 2026 Autumn term is now full, with registration open for the Winter term starting January 2027.
