Wines of Mesopotamia
About
A guided wine tasting with Deniz Bayram DipWSET exploring the ancient wine traditions and modern wines of Mesopotamia, with Fertile Crescent-inspired finger food.
This intermediate-level tasting explores Mesopotamia and its neighbouring uplands, a region central to the story of grape domestication and the beginnings of wine. Educator Deniz Bayram DipWSET presents a rare selection of modern wines from Türkiye, Syria and Iran, including varieties such as Bogazkere and producers like Domaine de Bargylus, explaining how geography, culture and generations of knowledge have shaped each bottle. Guests also receive finger food inspired by the cuisines of the Fertile Crescent. The session runs from 6:30 to 8:30pm and is open to anyone with an interest in the subject, though some prior wine knowledge is beneficial.
