About
Sculptor Emma Stothard and writer Tim Kelly reveal the stories behind Whitby's Heritage Sculpture Trail, with a performed ballad and Q&A.
Sculptor Emma Stothard introduces the real people who inspired her steel wire figures on Whitby's Heritage Sculpture Trail, including skipper Dora Walker, photographer Frank Meadow Sutcliffe and the town's fishermen and herring girls. Writer Tim Kelly then performs his new ballad imagining the sculptures' secret lives after dark, blending history, poetry and folklore. The 90-minute event includes an audience Q&A and a chance to see examples of the wire sculptures up close.
