Singing the History of Scottish Industrial Workers with Margaret Bennett
About
Folklorist Margaret Bennett brings Scotland's industrial heritage to life through songs, archive film and images with students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Part of Celtic Connections, this event celebrates Scotland's industrial heritage as folklorist, singer and storyteller Margaret Bennett uses film footage, images and songs to bring the past to life. Drawing on the National Library of Scotland's moving image archive and her own recorded interviews, she evokes the lives of millworkers, coalminers, brickmakers, railway workers and engineers. She is joined by students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for this musical journey into Scotland's industrial past.
