Studio Prints: Creative Collaboration
About
A free exhibition at the Cooper Gallery celebrating the Balakjian Collection of prints from London's influential Studio Prints workshop.
This exhibition showcases the Balakjian Collection, gifted to the Cooper Gallery through Arts Council England's Cultural Gifts Scheme, featuring prints, plates and drawings that illuminate the craft of printmaking. It centres on Dorothea Wight and Marc Balakjian, who ran Studio Prints, one of London's most influential printing studios, collaborating with acclaimed British artists including Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach, Stephen Conroy and Celia Paul from the late 1960s. Visitors can see plates, drawings, trial proofs and multiple versions of the same design, revealing the processes behind a finished print.
