WW1 – Expectations and Reality. The Nature of Warfare in the Great War

A two-week Lifelong Learning Dundee course with Donald Innes comparing the war Europe's generals expected with the reality of trench warfare.

This short course, taught by retired history teacher Donald Innes, examines the war European generals expected to fight and compares it with the reality of the conflict. Sessions consider the nature of trench warfare and efforts to break the stalemate, with suggested further reading and artefacts used to enhance the presentation. It runs over two Wednesday mornings in November 2026, and booking closes on 6 November at noon.
