Art in Garden and Gardens in Art - A Talk by Jo Walton

Art historian Jo Walton gives an illustrated talk at Sunninghill Library on how gardens have been portrayed in art through history.

Jo Walton explores how art has depicted gardens through history, from ancient frescoes to modern installation art, and from precise seventeenth-century parterres to sweeping herbaceous borders. The illustrated talk features paintings, sculptures and textiles, with work by William Nicholson, Ivan Hitchens, Barbara Hepworth, Paul Sandby, Isaac Oliver, Humphrey Repton, Derek Jarman and Cornelia Parker. The one-hour talk is organised by RBWM Libraries and will appeal to art history enthusiasts and garden lovers alike.
