Introduction to Etching

A two-evening beginners' etching course at Dundee Contemporary Arts where participants prepare, etch and print a small edition of prints.

This two-evening class introduces the basics of etching using small metal plates. Participants learn to prepare a plate by filing and polishing, apply a wax hard ground for drawing, and etch their designs in a copper sulphate solution. The course also covers paper preparation and inking, producing a small edition of prints using different ink colours and Chine Colle. It is suitable for complete beginners wanting to try the etching process.
