Dorking Concertgoers: Sacconi String Quartet 3

The Sacconi Quartet's third and final concert features Haydn's 'Bird' quartet, a new Freya Waley-Cohen work marking their 25th anniversary, and Beethoven's Op.135.

The Sacconi Quartet performs its third and final concert in the Dorking Concertgoers series. The programme opens with Haydn's Quartet Op.33 No.3, nicknamed 'The Bird' for its birdsong-like themes, and includes a newly commissioned set of Dances by Freya Waley-Cohen, subtitled Hymns and Songs for Friendship, written to celebrate the quartet's 25th anniversary. The concert closes with Beethoven's Quartet in F, Op.135, the last and shortest of his late quartets.
