Beginner’s Fungi Foray

A free, beginner-friendly fungi walk led by James Common, exploring woodland fungi as part of the Ouse Burn Way project.

This relaxed, informal walk explores the fascinating world of woodland fungi, from colourful caps in the leaf litter to bracket fungi on fallen wood. Led by James Common, Ouse Burn Naturalist at NHSN, the group will use identification apps, field guides, and shared knowledge to identify finds. Discoveries are recorded to build a picture of fungi along the Ouse Burn Way. No previous experience is needed, and the walk runs roughly two hours.
