Researching Family History
About
A six-session adult learning course at Worksop Library teaching how to research family history using records and online resources.
This six-session adult learning course introduces the main types of records used in family history research, focusing mainly on England and Wales. Sessions cover birth, marriage and death records, census returns, the 1939 Register, parish registers, electoral registers, newspapers and trade directories, using sample documents and case studies. A practical session lets participants search online for their own ancestors using library laptops and free access to Ancestry.co.uk, and the course ends with advice on organising and presenting research.
