Bobbin Lace for Beginners
About
A three-session beginner course at Worksop Library teaching bobbin lace making, covering Tape/Braid and Torchon techniques.
This adult learning course introduces the traditional craft of bobbin lace making over three Wednesday sessions, aimed at complete beginners and those with some experience. Learners practise the two fundamental movements — the cross and the twist — and develop skills in handling bobbins, reading lace patterns (prickings), controlling tension and accurate pin placement. The course also explores the history and heritage of bobbin lace across cultures. Equipment is provided by the tutor for use in sessions, though participants may bring their own.
