Quiet Hours
About
Northumberland Zoo's quiet hours offer a calmer, less noisy visit with dimmed lights, no announcements and sensory supports for visitors who find busy environments overwhelming.
Quiet hours at Northumberland Zoo are designed for visitors who find busy or noisy environments stressful, including people with disabilities, elderly visitors and those struggling with mental health. During these sessions the zoo reduces noise and stimulation by turning off restaurant waterfalls, dimming lights, stopping background music, broadcast announcements and noisy equipment, and limiting visitor numbers. Sensory supports such as fidgets, noise-cancelling earmuffs and sensory-friendly maps are available, with designated quiet zones throughout the site. The zoo remains open to general visitors during these hours.
