About

The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra & Chorus under Mark Wigglesworth perform Beethoven's Cantata on the Death of Emperor Josef II and the 'Eroica' Symphony at Bristol Beacon.

Part of the BSO's 'Beethoven Now' series marking the bicentenary of Beethoven's death, this concert pairs his early Cantata on the Death of Emperor Josef II — written when he was nineteen, with dramatic orchestral writing and significant solo roles — with Symphony No. 3, the 'Eroica'. Mark Wigglesworth conducts the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, with soloists Nardus Williams, Kitty Whately, Anthony Gregory and Andrew Foster Williams. The cantata is sung in German with printed English translations available. A free pre-concert talk with Jonathan James takes place in Lantern Hall at 18:00 for ticket holders.
