Mahler Symphony No. 2 ‘Resurrection’ Anniversary Gala Concert
About
New Bristol Sinfonia marks its 30th anniversary with a gala concert of Poulenc's Gloria and Mahler's Symphony No. 2 'Resurrection' with two choirs, soloists and a pre-concert talk.
New Bristol Sinfonia celebrates its 30th anniversary year at Beacon Hall with City of Bristol Choir and Cardiff Polyphonic Choir. The programme pairs Poulenc's Gloria, a sacred work with lyrical soprano solos, with Mahler's Symphony No. 2 'Resurrection', whose finale unites full orchestral and choral forces with organ. Conductors Thomas Blunt and David Ogden lead performances by soloists Sophie Bevan and Claire Barnett-Jones, and a pre-concert talk by Dr Jonathan James runs from 18:30 to 19:00. The concert is suitable for ages 10+, with under-16s accompanied by an adult.
