Signalong Training
About
A workshop for early years practitioners learning Signalong, a sign-supported communication system based on BSL, to use with children.
This Signalong workshop, run by Herefordshire Early Years, teaches key word sign-supported communication based on British Sign Language and used alongside speech. Participants learn the methodology for producing signs from Signalong's manuals, with interactive activities including sentence practice and role-play to build vocabulary in context. The course aims to strengthen understanding and reduce frustration for children with communication difficulties, and includes a manual and certificate. It runs for five and a half hours and is aimed at early years practitioners in nursery or childminder settings.
