About
Writer Luke Thompson talks about the creatures of Cornish folklore in his book A Cornish Bestiary, part of Falmouth Book Festival.
Luke Thompson explores the real and imagined animals that have populated the Cornish imagination, from the Owlman and Black Dogs to the Cornish Chough and stranger tales like a frog king and a plague of flies. Drawing on folklore, natural history, old newspapers and broadside ballads, the talk examines how stories blur the boundaries between human and animal, history and myth. It forms part of the Falmouth Book Festival programme.
