Patricia McParlin RCA: Flux: The Shift of Seasons

An exhibition of Patricia McParlin RCA's paintings exploring the liminal transitions between the seasons.

Patricia McParlin RCA presents a new body of paintings at Oriel Canfas Gallery examining the spaces between seasons — the subtle shifts when one state gradually becomes another. The works explore transitions between Winter and Spring, Spring and Summer, Summer and Autumn, and Autumn and Winter, using a strong architectural structure disrupted by intuitive gestural marks, line, texture and text. The artist draws on a childhood fascination with comparing the same landscape scene in Summer and Winter, and the paintings explore transformation, impermanence and flux.
