New Year's Eve Celebration
About
An alcohol-free New Year's Eve at Heruka KMC with a talk and meditation by Kadam John McBretney, a vegetarian buffet and midnight Tara chanting, followed by a free 24-hour Tara chanting retreat.
The evening begins with a talk and meditation, 'Learning to be Happy Whatever Happens', in which Kadam John McBretney shares practical meditations for keeping a happy mind. A vegetarian buffet and celebration follow from 9pm, with children welcome. At 11pm the group chants prayers to Tara, the female Buddha, to see in the New Year peacefully. From 11pm the prayers Liberation from Sorrow are then chanted every four hours for 24 hours — six sessions of about 1 hour 10 minutes — which are free and open to all without booking.
