Rebels & Rulebreakers: A Tour of Pushing Boundaries
About
A guided tour of the Stradling Collection celebrating unconventional makers who pushed the boundaries of ceramics, glass and design.
This guided tour of the Stradling Collection explores innovative design that challenges convention, focusing on makers who rejected tradition to provoke, surprise or unsettle. Highlights include Gillian Lowndes' raw sculptural ceramics, Dan Arbeid's exuberant vessels, Erik Höglund's rough-hewn glass and Sam Smith's experimental forms, tracing how these artists blurred the line between craft and art. The collection holds over 2,000 objects spanning studio and commercial ceramics, glass, sculpture, furniture and industrial design, and the tour also touches on Bristol's design histories. The tour runs 90 minutes.
