About

An exhibition of photographs, drawings, notebooks, correspondence and films by American artist Gordon Matta-Clark at the De La Warr Pavilion.

The exhibition surveys the work of Gordon Matta-Clark (1943–1978), the American artist known for cutting large openings into buildings slated for demolition. It brings together photographs, drawings, notebooks, correspondence and films documenting his architectural interventions and the negotiations behind them. The show is staged while the 1935 modernist Pavilion itself prepares for a period of significant change, connecting Matta-Clark's questioning of modern architecture with the host building's own history.
