Visit our Volunteer Blacksmith – Reviving the Blacksmith’s Craft in a Living Setting

A volunteer blacksmith demonstrates traditional blacksmithing skills at a working forge in Bradford Industrial Museum every Wednesday and Sunday.

Bradford Industrial Museum has revived the blacksmith's craft in its original setting with a working forge. A dedicated volunteer blacksmith demonstrates the skills and techniques used by mill blacksmiths, teaching visitors about the art and history of blacksmithing in hands-on demonstrations linking 19th-century trade to the 21st century. Handmade items such as coat hooks, keyrings and personalised nails are available to buy in the museum shop.
