Historical Highlights Tour

A one-hour guided walk explores Somerset House’s architecture, hidden spaces and history, including its naval connections and the Deadhouse.

The route traces Somerset House’s place on the Thames and its changing history, with architectural details and access to less familiar spaces including the Deadhouse. Tours meet in Seamen’s Hall in the South Wing; visitors are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the start. Part of the route has uneven flooring and small raised thresholds.
