The Legend of the Looms

A ghostly poem film brings a Lancashire weaver and a Bahraini weaver together across histories of craft and resistance, followed by a conversation with filmmaker Ali Al-Jamri.

This London premiere follows two weavers’ ghosts as they argue over hardship, poetry and working-class and reform movements. Filmed with weavers in Bahrain and in the Rossendale Valley, the film uses handloom weaving to connect place, diaspora and shared histories. The screening is followed by a conversation with poet and filmmaker Ali Al-Jamri.
